How do I get a library card?
Stop by any public library in the Monroe County Library System with photo ID and something that shows your current address. A recent utility bill, bank statement or piece of postmarked mail usually works. Children need a parent or guardian with them to sign up. Ask at the desk for the current list of accepted documents.
Can I use my card at other libraries?
Yes. A card from any MCLS member library works throughout the county. You can return most items to any member library, too.
Are there e-books and audiobooks?
Yes. Download the free Libby app, choose the Monroe County Library System, and sign in with your card number.
Is the internet free?
Wi-Fi and the public computers are free to use with a library card. Printing costs a small per-page fee, and color costs more than black and white.
How do I sign up for programs?
Storytimes, book clubs, classes and summer reading are listed on the library's events calendar. Many programs ask you to register ahead of time. You can do that online, by phone at (585) 225-8951, or at the desk.
