TOGETHER Book Discussion Group

3/3/2009

In a unique collaboration, the New York Council for the Humanities has joined forces with the Greece Public Library to offer Together—Book Talk for Kids and Parents, a family reading and discussion series for children in 4th and 5th grades and their parents/adults that runs Thursdays (4/2, 4/16, 4/30, 5/14, 5/28, and 6/11) from 6-7:30 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Babysitting is available for siblings who cannot participate in the program.

Together offers families a chance to discuss books in a meaningful format. These discussions give kids the chance to enjoy reading outside of school and gives parents the opportunity to share the books their kids are reading,” says Council Executive Director Sara Ogger. The library is excited to offer a book discussion group of this caliber to the families of Greece.

The Together program is designed to promote lively, thought-provoking intergenerational dialogue. The program is free and open to the public, although registration is required. We are currently seeking families to participate in the six, 90 minute sessions. Attendance at all six sessions is strongly encouraged as this is a grant funded program. To register, or for more information please call the library at 225-8951 or click here for online registration.
